Jill Scott had already started her set when I arrived at the concert 15 minutes late. Her chameleon-like stage costume sometimes proved to be a distraction, although she gave a powerful and emotional performance. Her pugnacious, attitudinal sexuality is undeniable, often contrasting with the slow, sensual, and moody love songs she sang. 4 Stars.
Colin Mochrie's set started over an hour after Jill Scott's had completed. His appearance was greeted with scattered boos from the impatient crowd. He appeared to be clearly under the weather, suffering from a cold or flu. He gave an apologetic, almost submissive type of performance, taking numerous breaks to either hydrate or change his shirt. I felt so sorry for the brother that I hardly noticed the performance itself. Gotta give him an "E" for Effort - 3 stars.
